A recently published report by the Huffington Post shows that Arizona leads the nation in the number of abortion clinics that have either shutdown or stopped providing abortion procedure services altogether. This is a huge victory for the pro-life movement in Arizona!
The report shows that since 2010, 54 clinics have ceased abortion services due to an increase of laws being implemented by state policymakers throughout the nation. According to the report, Arizona is at the top of the list with 12 abortion clinics that have ceased providing abortions.
We’re seeing the pro-life movement gaining significant momentum in changing the hearts and minds of people across the country. As a result, it is imperative that we continue to stand united as we seek to protect the most vulnerable in our society: preborn children and women with crisis pregnancies. It is clear that through strategic public policy we can save lives.
Decline in Abortions
This report comes in the wake of the Department of Health Services report that abortions decreased 7.4% in Arizona in 2012.
While there is some discrepancy between the Huffington Post report and the Department of Health Services regarding the number of abortion clinics in Arizona, one thing is clear: as the dangerous and deadly practices of the abortion industry are being exposed and blocked, more women are choosing life.
Abortion Perspective
Since the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973, over 54 million innocent preborn children have been aborted. That’s at least an average of 1.5 million abortions each year since the Roe decision was handed down by the United States Supreme Court. To put that number in perspective, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say that heart disease is responsible for about 600,000 deaths each year. Heart disease is well known as being the number one killer of people in the United States – claiming one of every four deaths.
While these recent reports are encouraging, it’s important that the pro-life movement recognizes our work is far from over.
