A Statement from Center for Arizona Policy President Cathi Herrod

Today, Governor Doug Ducey signed HB 2563, further protecting free speech in Arizona’s public universities and community colleges.

Sponsored by Rep. Paul Boyer, this new law will ensure that our universities and colleges will remain places where diverse ideas can be freely shared and where students can participate in a full marketplace of ideas.

Our future leaders need to learn how to appreciate diverse views, and engage in constructive debate rather than simply shutting down speech they disagree with.

I thank Governor Ducey, Rep. Boyer, and the legislative majority for their leadership to protect free speech in Arizona’s institutions of higher education.
