The Trump Administration recently announced the Protect Life Rule at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The rule would stop Title X funding for organizations that perform or refer for abortions, like Planned Parenthood.
The regulation was first instituted during the Reagan Administration and upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court, but then eliminated by President Clinton, and never reinstated.
The rule is now open for public comment at HHS. Thousands of comments already have been submitted. Now is the time to make your voice heard.
This rule is an important step in disentangling taxpayers from the abortion industry. The rule would divert $50-$60 million away from Planned Parenthood to other Title X recipients, like community health centers, that do not perform or refer for abortions.
Abortion is not healthcare, and taxpayers should no longer be forced to subsidize the abortion industry!
Contrary to what Planned Parenthood says, this rule will not eliminate family planning services. Federally Qualified Health Clinics and rural health clinics outnumber Planned Parenthood 20 to 1.
Comments submitted by the public are reviewed by HHS staff, and responded to and/or included in policy revisions.
Any comment that is submitted will also be made available to the public. [I support the Protect Life rule, which will restrict Title X funding from going to any organization that performs or refers for abortion.
