Hans Schmidt, 26, father of two, and outreach director at Victory Chapel, was critically injured in a Glendale shooting while preaching on a street corner. Initially thought to be an assault, it was later confirmed as a gunshot to the head. Schmidt, also a military medic, is now in critical condition, with the church website noting his urgent need for a miracle. Jose Gonzalez from the Arizona Republic notes in his recent story:

Schmidt is outreach director at Victory Chapel, located on West Peoria, just blocks away from where the shooting happened, the church’s website detailed. Schmidt is “in desperate need of a miracle,” the website added.

The church’s website stated Schmidt was intubated after having a seizure and fluid was drained from his brain.

The Glendale Police Department is seeking witnesses to the incident, which occurred near Schmidt’s church. The case remains open, with the police and Silent Witness urging the public to come forward with any relevant information. Schmidt’s condition is a grave concern for his family and community. Gonzalez provides this information:

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact police at 623-930-3000, or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377) or 480-TESTIGO (837-8446).
