Psalm 139:13–14

For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well. (ESV)

Recently, the ill-titled “Arizona for Abortion Access” ballot measure was assigned a ballot proposition number. That number is 139.

One. Thirty. Nine.

Some in our office caught the beautiful correlation immediately. I agree! While I’m never going to go down the path of ascribing unnecessary significance to the meaning of numbers, I will say that it is fitting that the ballot proposition’s number with ghoulish consequences matches that of the most pro-life chapter in the Psalms!

A Personal Invitation

Pastors, please join pastors from across Arizona online on Thursday, August 8, at 1:30 p.m. For months, a group of pastors from a diverse expression of evangelical churches in Arizona have gathered in person and online to build pro-life discipleship, teaching, and preaching content to share with the Body of Christ in Arizona.

With Arizonans facing Prop 139 on the ballot this November, as shepherds, it is mission-critical that we decouple the sanctity of human life from politics. Join Pastors Seth Troutt of Ironwood Church and Eric Jones of Evident Life Church and others for this 30-minute introduction of sermon content, videos, and social media resources for you and your church to freely use to disciple your people.

We are convinced that Arizona can be the first state to defeat these lamentable “abortion access” measures which, if successful, would enshrine the “right” to an abortion in our state’s constitution.

Register for this meeting now and plan to join with pastors from across the state on Thursday, August 8, at 1:30 p.m. Then, for more information and to sign the Declaration of Arizona Pastors in Defense of Voiceless Children and Vulnerable Women, go to arizonaprolifepastors.org.

Prayer Requested

Let’s remember candidates for public office in our prayers – both the victorious and those who will not continue to the general election. These men and women have poured out their hearts and their lives, many for more than a year. If you know someone who has either won or lost their race this week, reach out to them with your encouragement.

It bears repeating:

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities.
For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist
have been instituted by God.
Romans 13:1 (ESV)
