Suzanne Bowdey from the Washington Stand reports a major shift in women’s sports due to President Trump’s executive order protecting Title IX. This has prompted the NCAA to ban biological males from competing in women’s athletics. The policy change is another decisive victory for female athletes fighting against the unfair inclusion of male competitors, who claim to be trans in women’s sports. Bowdey writes:
“On Thursday afternoon, NCAA President Charlie Baker, who’s been coldly indifferent to the plight of women in college sports during multiple trips to Congress, announced that his association would, in fact, heed Trump’s guidance. ‘The new policy limits competition in women’s sports to student-athletes assigned female at birth only.'”
This landmark decision represents a return to biological reality in collegiate sports. For years, female athletes have watched their opportunities, records, and achievements undermined by biological advantages that no amount of hormone therapy can erase.
Former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines celebrated the decision:
“About time. The NCAA knew what the right thing was the whole time as we all did. They just needed to borrow Trump'[s] spine to do it. I can’t even begin to tell you how vindicating it feels knowing no girl will ever have to experience what my teammates and I did.”
The policy change extends beyond collegiate sports, as President Trump’s administration targets the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The administration has directed Homeland Security to deny visa applications from male athletes attempting to compete in women’s categories.
