CAP Presidents Through Time

Len Munsil

Len Munsil is the sixth President of Arizona Christian University, and is an accomplished public policy expert, a conservative organizational entrepreneur, a lawyer, a journalist, an educator and a writer. Prior to joining ACU, Munsil served as Founding President and General Counsel for The Center for Arizona Policy, a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy organization. Under his leadership at ACU, which began in 2010, the school changed its name, added a new vision for Christian cultural engagement, raised visibility, expanded course offerings and majors, dramatically increased fundraising, experienced large enrollment gains and, in 2019, successfully moved to a much larger, state-of-the-art campus in Glendale.

Cathi Herrod

Cathi Herrod has been with Center for Arizona Policy (CAP) since January of 1997 and has served as president since 2005. She is a champion of the pro-family movement, and an award-winning public policy leader. Arizona newspapers have recognized her as one of the ten most influential leaders at the Capitol. Cathi is the recipient of the Family Champion Award from Focus on the Family and the William Wilberforce award from Students for Life of America. Since CAP made its first appearance at the state Capitol in 1996, 200 CAP-supported measures have been passed.

Peter Gentala

Peter Gentala leads Center for Arizona Policy as its third President with dynamic vision, bringing a proven track record of constitutional litigation and policy expertise to the organization. A veteran of the public-policy process in Arizona, Peter served as the General Counsel of the Arizona House of Representatives for seven years. Through his career, Peter has advanced foundational values through strategic advocacy; with CAP, where he worked once before as Legal Counsel, at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) as member of the litigation team, at Childhelp, as its General Counsel, and most recently as Senior Legal Counsel for National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE). Driven by faith and a mission to serve, Peter champions transformative initiatives and commitment to defending religious freedom, strengthening marriage and family, protecting life at all stages, and advocating for parental rights in education. He would tell you that the best thing about him is his wife Allison, and their greatest joy comes from raising their eight children.
For me, the best part of being a lawyer is learning more about the heart of the best lawyer—Jesus Christ. I’m glad He is my advocate. He’s the only one who could ever successfully plead my case.
